FAQ

Outlined is a digital graffiti platform built around painting, battles, collabs and community. Create pieces on locations from around the world, compete in battles, build your Blackbook and connect with other writers.

Yes, but not in the traditional sense.
Outlined is built specifically around graffiti and includes a realistic paint engine, battles, collabs, crews, progression and community features.

Outlined combines a realistic graffiti paint engine with battles, collabs, progression and community features in a single platform.

Unlike traditional drawing apps, Outlined is built specifically around graffiti. Paint realistic spots from around the world, compete in battles, collaborate with other writers and build your Blackbook.

Unlike regular drawing apps, Outlined has no undo, time limitations, color limitations and realtime paint drain; simulating a real world painting experience by introducing the same restrictions and limitations. This forces faster decision making and creativity when making a piece.

You will quickly find out you will use the same techniques and progress as you would when painting in the real world. No undo; makes you do cut-backs to tighten up messy spots. The time limitation; makes you think and make decisions quicker. The ‘can allowance’; makes you plan your color schemes and pieces in advance.

Users have told us that the limitations actually makes them experiment with drawings a lot more; it’s really drawing under pressure!

Yes. Every copy of Outlined includes a collection of skin caps, fatcaps and fade caps. These can be seen as brushes designed specifically for graffiti. The core painting tools are included and available throughout the platform, including spots, battles and collabs.

The core spots map includes 22 spots that are are included in the game, for these no extra purchase is required.

We do not have an in-app currency to buy caps or cans in the app. Every spot can be painted, and paint allowance and the full standard cap selection is included every time you paint. No need for credits, points, lootboxes or any of that.. Just paint.

Yes when starting the game for the first time, most spots are locked. They are simply unlocked by painting a spot, voting on battles, receiving likes on your pieces, etc. These actions earn points and will automatically unlock other spots.

It does not take long to unlock all the spots on the map. Most users unlock the majority of the map very quickly simply by using the app.

Yes. The “Cap Lab” allows you to adjust pressure response, stroke characteristics and other settings to match your personal handstyle. -These personalised settings will be applied throughout the game; on all spots, battles and collabs.

Selecting favorite caps for each of the cap groups allows you to quickly grab your favorite skincap, fatcap or fade cap making cap selection faster.

On the spot you can use the floating stroke panel to adjust size and opacity on any cap you are using, making every cap a bit more tuneable on the spot.

Yes. Outlined supports both live and turn-based collabs.
Crew members can also invite each other to collabs without needing to become connections first.

Most battles are open and public. You can join a battle from the battle menu, or from the spots map.
When joining a battle your piece will be submitted for voting once the submission window closes.

In later stages we might add battle leagues, crew battles and other battle mechanism. But no matter what we commit to continue to run weekly battles that are open to the public.

Every user in Outlined can vote on battles, whether they have participated or not.
Voting ballots are generated after submission with 10 pieces to pick your favorite from. A user will never get to vote on their own submission on the ballot.

Depending on the amount of participants you can vote on one, or multiple ballots. Voting on battles also earn points so we highly encourage you to vote!

Voting ballots may also appear when scrolling through pieces on the bench to stimulate voting.
Additional tie-break ballots may also appear when there is a tie in the top 3 within the last 36 hours of the voting window.

An Apple Pencil is strongly recommended for the best experience.
Outlined is designed around pressure-sensitive painting and cap control.

If you do not make it in time, the police catch you. Your final piece can still be saved, submitted and added to your Blackbook, but the police lights will remain permanently visible in the final image as part of the piece.
